Eat Fat to Stay ThinPosted by Guarantee Green Team on January 26th, 2012
It seems like a smart idea to stay away from fatty foods if you are trying to lose weight, but in fact avoiding fats altogether may actually sabotage your diet. I’m not saying that you should run and eat a cheeseburger to help you lose weight, but skimping on healthy fats is a recipe for failure.
First, remember that not all fats are created equal. Trans fats and high amounts of saturated fats will clog your arteries, but unsaturated fats actually have a positive effect on the body. These healthy fats, found in nuts, avocados, seeds and fish among other things, help boost your mood, keep your hair and skin shiny, and keep joints healthy and lubricated. Without healthy fats the body can’t survive.
So how does this help you lose weight? The fact is that the body needs fat, and it will crave it until those cravings are satisfied. Eating an all day long non fat diet will weaken your willpower, and by the end of the day you’ll find yourself sneaking in those potato chips. Instead, add good fats to your diet all day long, and you won’t be craving unhealthy foods anymore.
By feeding your body the fat it craves in a healthy way, you won’t feel the need to binge on bad fats any longer.
