Going Green, Paper Towels

Paper Towels | Guarantee Green BlogGoing green isn’t just a great way to help reduce your carbon footprint. Reducing waste usually means saving money, and both of those are good for your family. The paper towel is one of the biggest money wasting waste producers in your home. Here are some ways to reduce paper towel usage, and save you big bucks!

One of the best ways to reduce paper towels are reusable, microfiber cloths. These handy, inexpensive clothes can be reused and washed easily. To avoid confusion, buy microfiber cloths of different colors, and use one color for the kitchen, and a different color for non food surfaces.

If reusable clothes don’t appeal to you for the more heavy duty surfaces, such as your bathroom, then why not use disposable rags instead of paper towels? If you have any old shirts, towels, or fabric of any kind that’s too worn out to donate, consider cutting it up into disposable rags for cleaning. Just cut or rip the fabrics into rags, and store for heavy cleaning. You won’t be creating any excess waste when you throw them away after cleaning because they were already going to be tossed!

Of course paper towels didn’t get so popular for no reason, sometimes the convenience is just too tempting to ignore. There are lots of companies that make paper towels out of recycled materials. Look for a reputable company, and choose paper towels that weren’t bleached (they will look brown instead of white).

Taking a few steps towards reducing or eliminating paper towel usage in your home will save you money and keep our Earth clean!
